Lucila is an Attorney and Notary Public with more than 30-years’ experience practicing law in Costa Rica; until October 2018, she served as an officer at the Costa Rican Judicial Branch, in positions such as criminal and appeal Judge, Judge of Inspection at the Costa Rican Power of Justice, and lawyer at the Constitutional Chamber at the Costa Rican Supreme Court of Justice. In 2017, she was appointed magistrate substitute of the Constitutional Court, she held this position until December 2020. She has been a university professor at both the University of Costa Rica and Universidad Latina of Costa Rica. Also, she was a trainer for the Training Unit of the Public Ministry of Costa Rica, with the Project Corte-BID, on the field of fundamental rights and principles and guarantees within the criminal process. Since 2018, she has been an independent practitioner, she has experience as litigator in various cases, including criminal, constitutional, family and administrative law cases, among others in Costa Rica, especially in San José and Guanacaste.
